Code & Koi was created from a passion for biotopes, aquascaping, and the unique ecosystems that can be created within the home aquarium.

We specialise in carefully selected aquarium plants, botanicals, mosses, aquascaping materials, and aquatic essentials designed to help hobbyists create healthy, natural-looking freshwater environments. From shrimp tanks and blackwater biotopes to heavily planted aquascapes, we aim to offer products that support both the wellbeing of aquatic life and the creativity of the aquarist.

The “Code” in Code & Koi comes from a background in web development and design - combining a love of creating things digitally while building natural ecosystems underwater. In many ways, aquascaping and design share the same principles: balance, detail, structure, creativity, and bringing ideas to life from the ground up.

Our approach focuses on quality, simplicity, and natural fishkeeping. Many of the products we stock are inspired by the environments fish and shrimp would naturally inhabit; from tannin-rich botanicals and floating plants to detailed mosses and hardscape materials that encourage more natural behaviour and healthier aquatic ecosystems.
